Berlin day 4

15 juli 2020 - Berlin, Duitsland

Hello again,

We finally had a good night of sleep!!! Our alarm went off at 10 this morning, but we slept until 11. We went to the Lidl to get some food for today and soon we were back on track. We took the train to the hauptbahnhof and our plan for today was to rent a bike. So, we stood there, by the bikes, ready to rent them, but unfortunately it takes a day for money to transfer from our Dutch bank to the German bank. So, we had to walk all day long after all. Which was not so bad tho, because it was raining very hard today and, on a bike, we wouldn’t have been able to hold an umbrella. First, we walked to the Brandenburger Tor, the Sowjetische Ehrenmal Tiergarten and the Reichstag building. We also went to the Holocaust monument, which I thought was a very interesting monument. It is basically a big maze made by high, squared stones. There is also a museum underneath the monument, and it was open for visitors, but the line was so long that we decided not to go there.

Instead of that, we took the bus and went to the Potsdamer Platz where we sat down in a restaurant and ordered some cocktails. They were alcohol-free, but very very tasty! We played a card game at the restaurant and when we finished our drinks, we went on the road again. First, we walked to the Sony Centre, which was a covered square with some stores and restaurants. Then we went to the Mall of Berlin, which was a very big and famous shopping mall. We taught we had been walking around there for 30-45 minutes, but instead we spent one and a half hour there! We went to the souvenir shop to but some more keychains (because one never has too many keychains) and we visited some clothing stores. At one point, we found a section of a big clothing stores that sells expensive gala dresses. And yes, we tried them on. We had a small, private fashion show with our own catwalk. We had a lot of fun trying on the dresses and we were very sad that we didn’t have the money to buy them all, because wow we looked gorgeous.

After our shopping adventure, we decided to buy ourselves some sushi for diner. We ate them in the hotel room and now where are going to do the usual again: play more games, while have some German noise in the background. :)
