Ireland

23 juni 2019 - Dublin, Ierland

Hello again,

It has been quite some time since i wrote a story, but, don't be sad, because i'm back!

Not for long tho, because this blog is about my short trip to Ireland and it was probably the last trip that i am going to make this year, which is very very sad, i know, but i have to go to school again in September and i need to save my money to pay my rent. Anyways, this blog is about my 5-day vacation to Dublin.

The reason why i went to Dublin is not because i wanted to visit Ireland, but to visit my very best friend Mariska who is working as an Au-pair in Dublin for a year. At the beginning of that year i promised her that i would visit her there and now ( almost a year later) I kept my promise. It was June 6th when i arrived at Dublin airport and of course Mariska was wainting for me there to pick me up. She showed me how to use the bus and together we travelled to my hotel. It was a 4-star hotel next to the highway 30 minutes away from the city centre. it was very relaxed but it had cost me a bit more money than i had origionally planned, however it was totally worth it. The first out of 5 days we went to the city centre to do some exploring. Mariska showed me some beautiful aspects of the city and of course we did nothing but shopping. Shopping in Dublin is very nice, there are many different stores and almost all of them are based in an old building which were very pretty to see. We went to buy some souvenirs and shoes and also some other stuff, but that is only for us to know.... :) We also went to visit the University of Dublin and for dinner we got some local food at a small restaurant. Mariska went back to her home and i went back to my hotel.

The next morning we were meating each other in the centre of Dublin. Our plan for today was to visit some famous museums, so first we went to the National Gallery of Ireland where we took a look at some very pretty paintings and statues. We also made our own piece of art which we got te hung up on a whiteboard in the entrance hall of the museum, which was quite fun. I drew a small panda bear and Mariska made an attempt to draw me. So basically I am hanging there twice. After the Gallery we went to see the dead zoo, aka the Natural History museum. The museum basically consisted of dead animals. And not just some dead animals, no, there were many types of dead fish, dead birds, dead insects, dead deers, dead giraffes, dead rhinos, dead lions, dead tigers, dead everything. It was very impressive. After our small museum tour we decided to head back to the hotel early in order to enjoy a very famous Movie Night together. We watched a few episodes of a korean serie and eventually we went to sleep.

The next morning i woke up and went to get us some breakfast from the gasstation. Why were we having breakfast from the gasstation? Well, long story short: the hotel was very expensive and i needed to save money. And also because at the gasstation we could get doughnuts and muffins and other sweet pasteries for a very good deal. It was not a very healthy breakfast but at least it was very very delicious. After we had breakfast we got on the bus to go to the city centre again and this time we went to visit the old part of Dublin. We came across a very beautiful old church, and i have to say, it was quite the experience. In front of the church there was a nice maze on the floor, drawn with stones, which you wouldn't have seen if you didn't know it was there. But ofcourse, i wanted to walk the maze thingy, because according to Mariska it brought luck. All i had to do was follow one line that lead to the middle of the mazecircle. I started walking and all the people around me were looking at me as if i were crazy, but me being me, i did not care at all. I even asked some people to step aside because otherwise i was not able to follow the line. When finally after 5 minutes i reached the middle, EVERYBODY started clapping and chearing for me! I was so amazed (see what i did there ;)) and i did not really know what to do, so i awkwardly bowed to the people and ran off to see Mariska. After i had completed the maze, a lot of other people started to do it as well, so that was really nice.

After that we took the bus to Mariska's house but we made a little de-tour to see the port. We walked there for about half an hour and we ate some fish and chips and after that we followed our route to Mariska's place. Mariska being Mariska, we took the wrong bus and it costed almost one hour extra to get to her house. When we arrived there we had some dinner with the family and Mariska and i went to chance into some sexy dressed because we were going out later. After dinner we took the bus to my hotel, we put on some make up and some heals and got the bus to the city centre again. We walked to the night club and waited in line to get in. When we were finally in, we didn't really know what to do, because this was our first time going out and apparently we had to dance but we didn't really know how to, so we decided to get a drink. We had one cup of delicious typically Irish beer and after that we were able to dance just like everybody else. We were looking pretty sexy so of course we got some attention from the irish boys and that was kind of fun. At 2:30 we dicided to go home again so we walked out of the club and on the streets to get us a taxi. it took a while before we got one, but eventually we got home safe. We fell asleep soon after that.

We woke up the next morning at 11 and this time Mariska went out to buy us breakfast. We were very tired but we wanted to make this day nice too so we went to the busstation again and took the bus to Howth. We walked a route through the cliffs and we enjoyed the view very much. Besides that, it was quite a relaxing day and we went home early. i went back to my hotel and after an emotional goodbye Mariska went back to her home. I started to pack my bags and went to sleep early.

Sadly enough i had to wake up at 4 to get the bus at 5 to get the plane at 9. It was a long trip back home but it was completely worth it. It was a short, but wonderfull trip and I am glad to make such nice memories with Mariska.

The end.
