day 11

15 juli 2018 - Naoshima Island, Japan

HELLO!

Yesterday after I wrote my blog, my dad and I went out to go dining. We had booked dinner and breakfast together with our hotel, however the restaurant where we were supposed to eat that dinner and breakfast is closed for the whole month. The hotel had paid back our money, which is very kind, however it meant that we had to find a place to eat. So we went to a "restaurant" in our street which the hotel lady had recommended. I would not have called it a restaurant, it was more like someone's house. There was a kitchen and 4 tables and it was very cosy. We got a menu and it took a while for us to figure out what the dishes actually were, but we managed to make a good choice. I ordered some onigiri and yakitori and my dad had something called yaki soba. It was more delicious than I expected it to be and my dad absolutely loved it. He was struggling with eating noodles with chopsticks tho, but he found a very unique way to spin the noodles around his chops. First he took some noodles, then he literally made the noodles fly around his chopsticks and it looked very fascinating! However, it was not an excellent method because of course there were pieces of vegetables flying on his shirt. lol :)

Anyways, the temperature over here is so hot! It was already 30 degrees celcius at 10 am. We walked up the hill to the bakery to get our breakfast and when we had returned to our Minshuku, we were soaking wet with sweat. I already took a shower 2 times today and there will probably a third time tonight as well. BUT the heat won't stop us. After our first shower we walked down the hill to the beach. It was very very pretty and it reminded me of my time in Spain. I had a plan to go have a swim in the sea, however there turned out to be many jellyfishes swimming there. I was able to take some nice pictures of them :).

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but Naoshima is an island full of art and museums. When we walked our route along the beach, we came across a lot of artworks, including the very famous Yellow Pumpkin and of course, I had to buy a keychain from it. ( I made a deal with myself that I can not bring home more than 17 keychains. That means I can buy 1 keychain every day. I'm still on scedule, I have 11 keychains now. (well actually I had 12 but I lost one))

After our tour to the beach, we got home and held our own little Siesta. We took our 2nd shower and played some cards. Then we took a bus towards the port and we did some groceries for dinner tonight. I am having bread :)

I am planning on writing the special edition (which I had planned to write a few days ago) so maybe you'll hear from me again today.

Adios!
