Day 5

9 juli 2018 - Matsumoto, Japan

Konbanwa!

Before I tell you how my day was, I am first going to say something you should know about me. I collect keychains. I've been in Japan for 5 days now and I already have 7 keychains which might cause a problem because I am already out of places to hang them. BUT the funny thing is, there are three keychains on the bag of the photocamera, which is the one bag we almost always carry around. And one of the keychains on that bag has a bell inside of it, so everytime the bag moves (which is like, always), the bell will ring. So everywhere we walk, you hear the bell and every person that we come across hears them too and all of them look at us very confused and I think that it is one of the most prettiest things on this trip through Japan :)

Another one of the most prettiest things on this trip so far is the Samoerai Castle that we visited today. This morning we traveled from Kawaguchiko to Otsuki to Kofu to Matsumoto, where we are staying tonight. The castle was very big and surrounded by very pretty gardens. My dad absolutely loved it. We went on a tour through the castle and we had to take off our shoes. We had to climb 6 floors, which wouldn't have been a problem if the stairs weren't so steep! The inside of the building was decorated like a museum and every floor had their own purpose. However, we had found another weird thing about Japan that just doesn't make sense. When I think about Samoerai, I think about swords. BUT there was no sword to be found in the Samoerai Castle! There were only canons and guns, which I do not find very interesting to be honest.

After our trip to the castle, we went back to our hotel to drop off the camera and we went to the shopping street, which was the biggest one we've seen so far. There were two shopping centers and we spent all of our evening shopping. I've bought new shoes, new socks and a skirt, which all are very unusual in The Netherlands, however in Japan it is totally fashionable.

ALSO I don't only like Japan for it's culture, I also like Japan because of the people. I kind of have a thing for asian boys and in Matsumoto there are SO MANY cute guys :) However I don't really talk to them, because I am too shy to do so and I don't speak Japanese and I don't know what to say to them, so I usually just stare at them from a distance. BUT today, we were walking and there was this cute guy cycling towards us, and I made eyecontact with him and I smiled at him AND THEN HE WAVED AT ME! (Well, I like to believe he did, I'm not really sure to be honest haha) So yeah that was another highlight of this day.

The sad part of today happened about 2 hours ago. My dad and I were done shopping so we wanted to walk back home, however it started raining very very badly! We waited for thirty minutes for the rain to stop, but it only became worse and there was also lighting and thunder. But, after 30 minutes we decided to walk through the rain anyways. We arrived at our hotel all soaking wet and the receptionist was all worried about us and apologized, like, seven times for the weather. WHICH IS SO WEIRD because it wasn't even her fault, but she felt sorry anyways. Japanese people are so damn polite.

I have the feeling that I am forgetting about something, so if I remember what it was, I will tell you about it tomorrow!

And for now; goodnight :)
