Japan day 1

5 juli 2018 - Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Nederland

Konnichiwa!

IT’S HAPPENING!! At this very moment, I’m sitting in my plane and we’re flying over Russia. I’ve been in this plane for more than 4 hours and up until now I’ve managed to amuse myself. BUT there are still 7 more hours to go and I’m starting to get bored already. So what I’m going to do is tell you how my day was.

It started this morning at 6:30 in my bed, where I got woken up by the annoying constructionworkers in our street who are renovating the roofs of some houses. Yesterday they started doing our neighbours’ house so this morning the noise was extra loud and it woke me up. I was completely awake ever since that moment. After I got out of bed, I took a shower, which is what I always do when I wake up and when I got out I started packing the last things for my trip. I was done way to early and I had to sit and wait at home for about an hour before everyone else was ready and we were able to drive to Schiphol. I was so excited that I was jumping up and down through the house and I seriousle couldn’t wait any longer for my adventure to begin.

When we finally got in the car, my brother decided that he had to pee. We stopped at a gasstation and suddenly everyone in the car (my mom, my dad, my brother and his girlfriend) went to the bathroom and I was left alone. It took them forever to return (it was probably not more than 10 minutes but that was too long for me because I really couldn’t wait to arrive at Schiphol.) My mom got a bit annoyed because of my impatienceness, but I couldn’t help it (sorry mom..).

AND THEN, we arrived at Schiphol. We got our suitcases out of the trunk and walked towards our departure hall. Only my dad and I were able to go through the gate so we had to say goodbye to my mom and my brother and his girlfriend, but I was too excited and was almost on the other side already. Luckily I could return to them for one last hug and from that moment on it was just me and my dad.

First of all, we had to drop off our suitcases. Than we had to let the security check our bags. We had to take out all electronic devices and liquids and we had to go though a portal that scanned our body. AND OF COURSE, we forgot to take our laptop out of the bag and the security had to check our bags again.. haha oops. The security guy was very kind and did not think of it as a problem. He even joked about having to take our laptop but he was the only one that found it funny because me and my dad almost got a heart attack.

We had to let them check our pasport and after having to scan our boardingticket for the 30th time we were ready to relax. We had to wait for one and a half hour for our gate to open and time seemed to pass very very slowly, however once we got on board it was kind of okay. One hour after we took off, the staff gave us a drink, which I found very amusing because it was free. (Yes, amusing, because I’ve only traveled with Ryanair before and we had to buy every drink and every bit of food ourselves.) ( Haha wow, as I was typing that, the lady came again with free drinks for like, the 4th time or something) Okay, let’s see where was I.. oh right the free drinks. Let me tell you something. Not only did we get free drinks, no, we also got… wait for it…. FREE FOOD!! Yeah that’s right, we got free food. We could choose between chicken with rice or pork with rice, and somehow I found that very amusing as well. My aunt had told me that when they had flown overnight, they got offered a meal as well, and she could always choose between the same two things: chicken or pasta. She told me that it was very likely for us to have to make the same choice as she had to make BUT she was wrong! It was chicken or pork :).

What I did in the past four hours was not very special. I watched half a movie (yes only half because it was very boring) and I’ve listened to some music and talked to my dad. I also tried to sleep 3 times but I'm that type of person that just can’t sleep in vehicles so I’m kind of fucked right now. My dad did fall asleep, about half an hour ago and so did most of the passengers around me.

I feel like I should sleep too, but it’s only 19:27 in dutch time. We will arrive in Tokyo in 6 hours and 10 minutes and then it will be half past 9 in the morning. I FORGOT TO TELL YOU SOMETHING. There’s this really cool tv-screen behind every seat and it has a lot of apps on them. You can watch movies, tv, listen to music, play games and all that stuff BUT you can also see the exact location of the plane and you can see it moving over all those countries. As you know, we started in The Netherlands, and than we flew over Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia and now we are heading towards Japan. If you want to look up where I am now: currently I am flying over a Russian city called Doedinka.

Writing this has cost me almost an hour, so I guess I’ll go find something else to do. I wanted to read a book that I got as a present from a very special teacher, however it didn’t arrive in time so I couldn’t bring it with me. I don’t want to name the name of the teacher, but I still want to give my thanks to him, because I’m very grateful for it!

I hope I am able to update my blog every day, but I’m not sure if I have internet in every hotel and I am also not sure if I have the time to write something, but I’ll do my best.

See you tomorrow!
